On the eleventh episode of the Legends of Tomorrow Podcast, your hosts Kat Calamia and Tony Kim has a big discussion on creating, writing of modern super-heroines and female characters, and ties it in with the women of the DC TV Universe.
They discuss and analyze how they feel about characters like Arrow's Laurel Lance/Black Canary (Katie Cassidy), Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), Thea Queen-Merlyn/Speedy (Willa Holland), The Flash's Iris West (Candice Patton), Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Supergirl's Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) and what they hope to see in Legends of Tomorrow's Sara Lance/White Canary (Caity Lotz) and Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée).
What are the good and bad with the writing and portrayal of female characters in this genre? In addition to that, they also discuss about the upcoming mega crossover with Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow with the first trailer that has been released along with the promotional image.
For the tenth episode of the Legends of Tomorrow Podcast, co-hosts Kat Calamia and Gregg Katzman share their thoughts on the Arrow episode "Lost Souls". They also take a little bit of time to praise the latest episode of The Flash, "Enter Zoom". The dilemma over in Central City had no connection to Legends of Tomorrow, but it was so awesome that they simply couldn't resist discussing it!
"Lost Soul" is an important episode for The CW's upcoming spin-off series Legends of Tomorrow because it has plot progression with two key characters: Brandon Routh's Ray Palmer a.k.a. The Atom and Caity Lotz's Sara Lance a.k.a. Canary. There was also a lot of focus on Olicity, and a little bit of attention given to Willa Holland's Thea Queen a.k.a. Speedy/Red Arrow. Did Kat and Gregg love the episode? IF they didn't, what constructive criticism do they have to offer? Get cozy and listen to the two fans talk all about Arrow!
For the second part of our ninth episode, the Legends of Tomorrow Podcast co-hosts, Kat Calamia and Gregg Katzman, talk all about the Arrow episode 'Haunted', which marks the return of Matt Ryan's John Constantine. Not only did the star from the cancelled NBC show make his debut (and he played a bigger role than we anticipated!), but this was also an important episode because it incorporated a significant plot point for one of the Legends of Tomorrow characters, while also blatantly teasing the return of another one!
Did Kat and Gregg lose their minds while watching the episode, or did they think it was just pretty good? They take some time to talk about all the important characters, plot points, and speculate a bit about the road ahead. Also, they spend just a wee bit of time talking about the latest episode of The Flash, too! That series also teased a Legends of Tomorrow character, but to a far lesser extent. Okay, who's ready to delve into The CW DC Universe with our co-hosts?
For the ninth episode of the Legends of Tomorrow Podcast, co-hosts Kat Calamia and Gregg Katzman take some time to discuss The CW's other two DC shows, Arrow and The Flash, because both of them had major connections to Legends of Tomorrow! As the new spin-off series gets closer and closer, Arrow and The Flash are taking steps to make sure each character is ready - or as ready as they can be - for the time traveling adventure!
In The Flash's new episode, "The Fury of Firestorm", Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber) finally finds his counter-part, and there's a HUGE cameo! Plus, the two fans have some fin thinking about Zoom's true identity. In Arrow's "Beyond Redemption", all eyes are on Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) as Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) attempts to repair her sister's psyche. Also, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) runs for Mayor of Star City! Kat and Gregg delve deep into both episodes as they share their opinions on just about everything that went down. What did they love? What were they not fans of? And where do they think the shows will go next? Prepare for plenty of Arrow and The Flash talk, DC fans!
For our eight episode of the Legends of Tomorrow Podcast, co-hosts Kat Calamia and Gregg Katzman are joined by Shag - founder of the website Firestorm Fan - to discuss Firestorm! The powerful hero has quite a rich mythos in the comics, so Shag shares his vast knowledge of the character and offers some reading recommendations! Thanks to him, you'll feel like a Firestorm expert after this episode, and you'll know exactly which comics you should check out before Legends of Tomorrow airs!
The three fans have an extensive talk about Firestorm's role in The CW-verse and then speculate what could happen with the character moving forward. Yes, that means there are SPOILERS from The Flash season 2 premiere in this episode, as well as talk about the upcoming character Jefferson "Jax" Jackson (Franz Drameh). The trio also shares their thoughts on the season 4 premiere of Arrow!
In case you missed it, Kat attended this year's New York Comic Con and she interviewed the cast of Legends of Tomorrow! Watch all of the fun and informative interviews HERE
In the seventh episode of the Legends of Tomorrow Podcast, host Kat Calamia is once again joined by Alan Sizzler Kistler - NY Times Best Selling Author of Doctor Who: A History; superhero historian; host of the Crazy Sexy Geeks podcast - to talk all about the time master and son of Booster Gold: Rip Hunter! To help prepare listeners for the character's big debut in the CW/DC universe, the duo has a detailed conversation about Hunter's history in the DC Universe, comic book recommendation featuring Rip, his previous media appearances and their thoughts on Doctor Who's Arthur Darvill who will be playing Rip no the show.
They also discuss some of the recent casting news with Stephanie Corneliussen as Valentina Vostok, Peter Francis James as Dr. Aldus Boardman and a recent BTS footage from The Flash that reveals something MAJOR for Legends of Tomorrow. Remember: if you are going to New York Comic Con that will take place between October 8-11 - don't forget that Legends of Tomorrow will be there!

In the sixth episode of the Legends of Tomorrow Podcast, co-hosts Kat Calamia and Gregg Katzman are joined by Alan Sizzler Kistler - NY Times Best Selling Author of Doctor Who: A History; superhero historian: host of the Crazy Sexy Geeks podcast - to talk all about Hawkgirl (Kendra and Shayera) and Hawkman! To help prepare listeners for the characters' big debut in The CW DC universe, the trio has a detailed conversation about Hawkman and Hawkgirl's elaborate history in several comics - everything from the classic origin to The New 52 is discussed! Kat, Gregg, and Alan also make some reading recommendations and explain why they're interested in the frequently reincarnated couple.
The co-hosts delve into appearances Hawkgirl and Hawkman have made in other forms of media (primarily the classic Justice League animated shows and Smallville) - it's very possible they forgot to mention Hawkgirl's playable (and awesome) in Injustice: Gods Among Us, though! After that, the three speak about Hawkgirl and Hawkman's Legends of Tomorrow costumes, and have an extended discussion about how they hope the two heroes are utilized in DC's Legends of Tomorrow!

For the fifth episode of the Legends of Tomorrow Podcast, co-hosts Kat Calamia and Gregg Katzman are joined by Alan Sizzler Kistler - NY Times Best Selling Author of Doctor Who: A History; superhero historian; host of the Crazy Sexy Geeks podcast - to have a detailed discussion about the show's big villain, Vandal Savage! The three go over the DC foe's origin story and history, disucss what makes him an interesting fiend, and share their thoughts on actor Casper Crump landing the role.
Vandal Savage is known for collaborating with others, so who could Savage attempt to manipulate on the Legends of Tomorrow team? Kat, Gregg, and Alan speculate about characters who may consider switching sides! The trio also recommend several things to watch (one DC animated movie is mandatory viewing!) and some comics to read if you want to do a little more Vandal Savage homework before Legends of Tomorrow debuts in 2016.
